Fantasy football Week 10 wide receiver rankings

The NFL’s pass first, run second trend has been on full display this season, making wide receivers more valuable than ever in fantasy football leagues. While just 14 running backs have totaled at least 500 http://www.official49ersnflproshop.com/Nike-Vernon-Davis-Jersey.html yards, 32 receivers have accomplished the same feat.

That’s not even mentioning the idea of PPR, or “points per reception,” leagues that award points for catches. Possession receivers such as Kendall Wright and Brian Hartline suddenly become viable options for their ability to be consistently productive.

But there’s no doubting what elite players can do for Mike Iupati Jersey fantasy owners on a weekly basis. Matchups are more easily won when Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant or Demaryius Thomas are on your side. Those young stars again highlight PennLive’s top 30 wide receiver rankings for Week 10.

THREE UP

Demaryius Thomas, DEN, at San Diego: Thomas hasn’t received double digit targets in three straight games all season, but could buck that trend in San Diego this weekend. The Broncos are coming off a bye and facing a defense that has allowed massive yardage totals and seven total touchdowns to opposing wide receivers. Thomas is the most difficult matchup with imposing size and run after catch ability. Against a soft defense, he’s the best bet in Denver’s deep receiver corps to go off.

Pierre Garcon, WAS, at Minnesota: The Vikings are the right opponent at the right time for Garcon, who’s more active than ever in the Redskins’ passing game but has just two touchdowns and none since Week 4. Minnesota has allowed touchdowns to opposing wideouts in seven straight games and ranks near the bottom of the NFL in pass defense (29th, 291 ypg) and touchdown passes allowed (31st, 18). Given the matchup and Garcon’s role in the Redskins’ offense, it’s easy to forecast a return to paydirt.

Keenan Allen, SD, vs. Denver: Three touchdowns in four games make the headlines, but only serve to tell the bigger story: Allen is San Diego’s No. 1 wide receiver. He gets a generous matchup for the second straight week after catching eight passes for 128 yards and a touchdown against the Redskins. Allen’s route running and versatility should find room in a Broncos secondary that has allowed 299 yards per game and 15 total touchdowns.

THREE DOWN

Jordy Nelson, GB, vs. Philadelphia: Any excitement over the matchup should be tempered by Aaron Rodgers’ shoulder injury. The middling play of Seneca Wallace limits Nelson’s big play ability and likely puts the Packers’ offensive focus on Eddie Lacy and the power running game. Nelson is too good to fall off the grid completely, but touchdowns and yardage will be harder to come by from a career backup quarterback.

Anquan Boldin, SF, vs. Carolina: Boldin’s up and down contributions have been predictably “down” against the 49ers’ toughest opponents. Boldin was limited to three combined catches and 28 yards in games against Seattle and Houston, two of the NFL’s best pass defenses. The Panthers also boast a top pass D, allowing just 221 yards per game and the fewest passing touchdowns (7) in the NFL.

Harry Douglas, ATL, vs. Seattle: Roddy White is on the verge of a return from a hamstring injury, which puts Douglas’ status as the Falcons’ standalone top receiver very much Mike Iupati Youth Jersey in question. Even if White has a setback and can’t play, Douglas is likely to draw the attention of shutdown corner Richard Sherman. After getting just five targets in Week 9 down from 18 the week before the writing is on the wall: it’s time to downgrade Douglas to FLEX Patrick Willis Youth Jersey option, at best.

WAIVER WATCH

Michael Crabtree, SF, vs. Carolina: Crabtree is back at practice after tearing his Achilles tendon official49ersnflproshop.com/Nike-Justin-Smith-Jersey.html last spring. While much work still has to be done to return to live game action, Crabtree’s status is certainly worth monitoring. If the fifth year receiver can return by the end of the month, he has a chance to make an impact in the fantasy Patrick Willis Red Jersey playoffs. Crabtree, remember, led the 49ers in receiving (1,105 yards) and caught nine touchdown passes last season.
